Trip to Vegas
I got into Tucson about two hours ago from a five day trip back home to Vegas. Of course, I saw Mark.Mark and I had a huge fight about him not letting me talk to his friends and family. He has one friend in particular, a girl he grew up with, whom he talks to all the time. I asked for her phone number. He refused to give it to me. And for some reason... I decided to push the issue. It seems completely unreasonable, now, but we ended up having a large argument. It was resolved when I told Mark that I want to meet his friends and family and talk to them because if they don't like me, there's no reason to pursue a relationship with him, and Mark told me that he doesn't want me to meet his friends and family because he wants to get to know me on his own so that IF they don't like me, he can have the resolve to tell them to fuck off.
I've decided that perhaps Mark and I are getting too serious... Especially because I like 374 miles away! By the way, any advice on long distance dating? *sigh...*
DCG apparently missed me bunches. He had a nightmare while I was gone about something chasing him and him trying to get help via cell phone but his phone was broken. If this were my dream, I would interpret it as his anxieties over me staying with Mark. I'm not sure how he interprets it.
Also, someone go tell DCG he needs to date other women. I don't think I put out enough for him.
Anyway, last few tibits:
I'm speaking to a man who put an ad on Craig's List looking for slaves. I tried to be a submissive, once, but I think I'm too smart for most doms. We're supposedly having drinks later in the week, so be on the lookout for that post!

Long Distance Dating.
I did so for two and a half years --SoCal San Diego area(me) to Flagstaff, AZ(him). I worked a 9/80 schedule so we saw each other every other weekend when I had my Friday off. I'd also take two, 7 to 10 day vacations a year to spend with him. It suited me well at first since I didn't require loads of attention.
Then, he wanted me to move to Flag. I was reluctant because I didn't want to take a huge pay cut AND give up my entire life where he gave up nothing but a little closet space. When he started talking about moving here with me, I freaked (quite frankly, I was irritated with him by the end of our three days and couldn't imagine it full time, I was fine with every other week!). He pushed. I balked - my signal it wasn't right and things ended.
In retrospect, I had loads of fun - we camped, sailed, skydived, went skiing, traveled ... the bad side was those plane tickets every other weekend really added up!
I guess my advice is long distance is fun but probably not best if looking to get serious*. Besides, sounds to me like DCG kinda has a crush on you ...
*30FDs doesn't sounds serious but if you're asking for friends' and family phone numbers ... it might sneak up on you!
You know, I've kind of noticed that, too... Even when I was in Vegas, Mark and I would only see each other on the weekends. By the end of the weekend, I'm always pissed off and can't wait to get home alone. I think that has more to do with finally getting home to check my email, sit on the pot, and take a bath than it has anything to do with Mark, though.
My long-distance dating solution: don't do it. Never works, ever. Even in movies it doesn't work out half the time, and that's when everything is FAKE!
Jake, it seems as if you like to spoil more than Harry Potter. What's been your experience with long distance dating?
I'm doing it right now. She's different from all the other women I've met in my adult life. We spent a 3-day weekend together for the 4th, and we are doing it again this weekend for my birthday in her city. Who knows how this visit will go, but I'm confident it will be just fine. We talk every night, and e-mail some during the day. Still, it's tough since she is so far away. I'm willing to try and let things play out. I guess if you really feel a special connection, you should keep it going. You never know.

I don't know, THE single guy. The only reason Mark and I are doing the long distance thing is because I am completely intending to be back in Vegas in January at the latest. That makes things easier. I don't know how I would cope with dating someone who lived somewhere I was unwilling to relocate to.

I want to say old fashioned, yes, but that's not it, is it? No. I moved to Tucson to stay with DCG because I wanted to and he wanted me to. I'm dating other people because I want to. I started the 30 first dates project because I read a very convincing article that told me if I made the promise to date five new people a month, at the end of six months I would be engaged to be married because I will have found the right guy. Or... a right guy. I want to see if this is true. I want to finish my thirty first dates. Maybe DCG is the right guy. Maybe Mark is the right guy. I don't know, I want to find out, that's the point.
